Summary: Spoilers for Minimal Loss 4X3, takes place between the last two scenes. This is the perfect follow-up to the episode. It’s about the team, it’s about Prentiss as she copes with the aftermath of the episode and, best of all, it’s about Rossi and Prentiss getting their act together. I love this story.

“Braden knew all the stories. How his mom got pregnant right after high school, when she’d been going to go to the Academy, and then she didn’t go but she doesn’t regret it. He believed that, because they were all pretty happy, and he was a kid at the time and didn’t realise just how different she’d meant her life to be. He believed it after that, too, but in a different way.”
This story lists pairings but it’s not really about that. It’s really about one possible impact of Kirk’s wild youth from the POV of the son he doesn’t know. This is quite good and very unique among Trek reboot fic I’ve read.

Summary: Sometimes a new life happens whether you seek it or not. This fic is set post-film and it’s a compelling look at the developing bond between Sarek and Winona Kirk. The dynamic is great and I particularly love the portrayal of Winona Kirk. Flora also find an unexpected, but perfectly placed, spot for Gaila in this fic. I doubt many people have considered this pairing but the fic is worth your time.

Summary: Prentiss and Rossi are looking forward to a night alone together. But things seldom work out as planned. Oh, this is wonderful. Established relationship but new enough that there’s still the element of discovery. Rossi and Prentiss are pitch perfect and their “suprise guest” is perfectly played.
